Our first retreat
Join our very first Songbird retreat, part singing holiday, part homecoming, a week on the sun-warmed coast of Portugal to reconnect with yourself, and with your voice. You’ll sing your heart out, eat beautifully, make friends for life, and come home to a part of yourself that’s been waiting patiently for her turn.
Across the week you’ll learn and rehearse iconic songs you already know and love, from pop and soul to musical theatre, building, gently and joyfully, towards an evening sip and sing. You’ll leave with new confidence, new friends, and your own personalised reel to share with the people you love: a keepsake from a week you’ll never forget.
Who it's for
Songbird retreats are for women who love to sing, and especially for those who once sang more seriously and have quietly lost their connection to it. Whether you trained, performed, sang in choirs or bands, or you simply belt in the kitchen and wish you did it more, you belong here. This is as much about reconnecting with yourself, and your own quiet power, as it is about the singing.
Every level is welcome, from complete beginners to women who have sung all their lives. No auditions. No judgement. Just women singing together, and remembering how good it feels.
You don’t need to be able to sing to join us.
And you don’t need to be able to read music.
No auditions. No pressure. Just singing that lifts you all the way home.
More than singing
Space to hear your own voice again, in every sense of the word.
The kind that follows you home, into the meeting, the conversation, the room.
Using your voice fully changes how you carry yourself, long after the week ends.
The particular bond of women who have sung together.
Days guided by extraordinary performers and coaches who raise everyone around them.
You will feel it the moment you land home.
“Alyssa has an incredible capacity for holding space, making one feel completely safe and supported.”

Your week
Picture this. You wake slowly in a beautiful villa on the Portuguese coast, coffee in hand, the morning light pouring in. A gentle warm-up wakes the body and the voice, and then everyone gathers to sing.
There is no pressure and no performing. Just brilliant songs, uplifting harmonies, and that unmistakable feeling when a room full of women start singing together. Some mornings you will work one-to-one with your coach; some afternoons you will wander the coast, swim, nap in the sun, or do gloriously nothing at all.
The meals are long and delicious. The laughter is constant. And as the week builds, gently and joyfully, towards an evening sip and sing, you will feel something shift: a confidence, a lightness, a version of yourself you had almost forgotten.
By the end, you will have new friends, a personal reel to treasure, and the sound of your own voice ringing in your ears long after your suitcase is unpacked.
What you’ll learn
Confident singing isn’t only about hitting the notes. Across the week we work with your voice on every level, and you will genuinely improve, often more than you thought possible in a single week.
Breath, support, resonance and freedom, the craft that lets your voice work with ease.
Singing from the heart, so the feeling comes through, not just the notes.
Confidence, presence and the mindset to stand up and be heard, without fear.
Treating your voice as body, breath, emotion and expression, all as one.
“Thank you for everything. Great teachers inspire, and that is what you do.”

More than music
There’s a reason you leave a good sing feeling lighter. Singing isn’t only joyful, it’s genuinely good for you, and the science backs it up.
So when you leave lighter, calmer and more alive, that isn’t your imagination. That’s your biology, thanking you.
Beyond the music
The week unfolds on the coast of Portugal, where the Atlantic light, rolling hills and old-world charm do half the work of setting you free.
“Thank you, Alyssa. You are a great teacher and singer, and your enthusiasm is infectious.”

The details
From the moment we land, all we want is for you to relax, sing, and soak up every moment. Everything else is taken care of.
Good to know
No. There is no choir, no set list to learn and no standing in rows. We do sing together, and in beautiful harmony, but it is relaxed, led by you and far more joyful than formal. Think singing for the sheer love of it, not rehearsing for a concert.
Not at all. Songbird is for every level, from women who sing all the time to those who have not really sung in years. There are no auditions and no judgement. If you can talk, you can sing with us.
No. You will not need to read a single note of music. We teach everything gently, by ear.
Never anything you do not want to. There is no pressure to perform or sing solo. The week builds to an evening sip and sing, and you join in exactly as much as feels good.
Yes, and most women do. They arrive on their own and leave with friends, it is one of the loveliest parts. You will be warmly looked after from the moment you land.
Small and intimate, between 12 and 20 women, so everyone is seen and no one gets lost.
Yes. Songbird is a space made just for women.
Everything from the moment you arrive: your accommodation, all your meals, all the singing and workshops, and your airport transfers in Portugal. Flights and travel insurance are the only things not included.
